Ahhh, the LUXE life… no, I’m not talking about Taittingers and Beluga at brunch. It’s the new LUXE, the MODERN LUXE life. It’s about the new luxurious space masterful designers everywhere are creating for their deserving clients. Word is, you don’t have to be a princess or hedge fund millionaire to appreciate a distinguished, refined environment, just a love of natural beauty.
A space composed of “natural beauty,” (…right out of the shower with no make-up on and still sublime) is clean, sophisticated quality, with a touch of “modern glamour” and minimum embellishment. Each element in such a space, is adored for its own LUXE contribution, like fluid design, an indulgent hand, soothing palette, generous texture and subtle metallic touches, while each thoughtful selection projects the essence of gracious living, through chic, cohesive modern styling.
Who is the LUXE client? It is not the busy mother of teenage boys or three children under 10! This is a client prepared to appreciate fine quality. They are sophisticated with discerning taste and will commit to the coaster on the shagreen coffee table. A client with a home built on the merit of coveted design elements in furniture, flooring, wallpaper, window wear and textiles… that’s your client.
What qualifies these elements as LUXE? In furniture, upholstery is modern, streamlined, with clean cut linear sophistication. Tables are brass and glass or detailed inlayed woods, while case goods might be gilded, donning a lizard skin veneer or a lacquer finish with a metallic motif, handle or hinges. Pieces that are unique, organic or naturally beautiful, all speak to the LUXE trend.
Flooring offers elegant rug work in quiet hues and classic designs. Area rugs that are hand loomed, knotted, woven or spun – in silk, wool or bamboo viscose – create a silky hand and lustrous sheen. The organic floor brings unique texture with “hair on hide” geometric patchwork leather rugs in natural colors.
LUXE wallpaper with a “glam” bend is not suitable for the Disco. It’s a subtle metallic, woven into grasscloth or gold leaf, silk screened into a print. In patterns with movement, like sliced stone prints and book paper, you may find a gold or silver thread winding through the layers now and then. Luxe wallpaper is simply too cool to be obvious.
Drapery Hardware is a LUXE natural, donning modern finial designs that are LUXE/GLAM all the way. Crackled glass, acrylic orbs, squares and diamonds, brass and glass and clean metal shapes, all keeping your LUXE design seamless!
LUXE textiles say luxury! A key player in the Modern Luxe story is quality fabric, with timeless style and lavish textures. Even the extravagant blend of raw silk, lush velvet, wool mohair, modern embroideries, woven leather, snakeskin, faux fur and sheers with a hint of metallic baked in, work well together as a group of LUXE roommates!
Where do you find such LUXE and glamour? Right here at Design Alliance, living amongst the less glamourous, “sparkle free” fabrics, flooring and furniture!
